A Chinese proverb very aptly states, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”
Let us understand the role of co-curricular activities in a student’s life.
1. Enhance overall personality
Co-curricular activities help to enhance
the all-round personality of the students to face challenges if the road to the
future may be turbulent. These activities provide opportunities for students to
work in teams, to exercise leadership, and to take the initiatives themselves.
These skills make students more attractive to universities and to potential
employers.
2. Strengthen self confidence
Practice makes a man perfect, and the goal of
co-curricular activities is to cultivate a sense of sportsmanship, competitive
spirit, meticulousness, cooperation and get away with the fear of failure. The
hidden motive behind all this is to develop self-confidence.
3. Develop specialized skills
Co-curricular activities help enhance the
talents of the young minds and gives them an opportunity to develop their specialized
skills. Extracurricular activities are exciting. Valuable skills like
creativity, coordination, extempore are developed amongst the children. And
because they don’t realize they’re learning, the child do not feel pressurized.
That clears the path for learning skills in a low-stress way.
Students pursuing their interests achieve
better results in their education. Their academic performance is highly boosted
as they learn to balance their fun activities with their academic pursuits. Activities
like sports, drama, music etc. help in achieving the bigger purpose of better
education.
