The Scindia School

The history of The Scindia School provides a fascinating peek into the history of India, seamlessly intertwined with the making of modern India. The Scindia School, with its unique location & grandeur, is a notably different residential school. Located atop the magnificent Gwalior Fort, it overlooks the city and the majestic hills make for a beautiful view right across. The ramparts of the Fort have witnessed Tatya Tope’s troops battle the British and have seen the brave Rani of Jhansi, breathe her last in her final assault.

Principles and Policies

Policies and procedures play a significant role in helping Scindia develop the environment that is engaging, supportive and conducive to learning.

o We have a robust complaint and redressal procedure, driven on the philosophy of self-discipline. Any errant behavior of a student is brought to the notice of the Housemaster and necessary corrective action is taken.

o The school is completely supportive and sensitive towards students with disability or with any learning difficulty.The staff and other students encourage and unfailingly motivate the differently abled students.

o The school endeavors to make students self-reliant and independent but also understands the importance of interaction between the family and the child. A thoughtfully planned and well regulated Parent Child contact mechanism has been worked out.

o The School follows a policy of zero tolerance towards violence and ragging. The members of the Disciplinary Committee, Anti Ragging Squad and Anti Ragging Committee ensure that no misdemeanor goes unnoticed or unpunished.

o The School makes conscious effort to instill environmental consciousness in its students. The water scarcity on the Fort is dealt with by practicing rain water harvesting, drip irrigation and creating new water channels with the help of boys. The students are also involved in tree plantation.

o The School encourages and gives students many opportunities to participate in community services. By actively involving students in the activities of the Social Service League, Round Square and by affiliating with NGOs like Nanhi Kali the School strives to create awareness amongst the students about the importance of care and concern for the underprivileged. It inculcates in them a sense of empathy & compassion.

Board of Governors

The role of the Board of Governors is to ensure that the school provides the best possible educational opportunities for all pupils.The Scindia Education Society, constituted in 1956, is the custodian of The Scindia School, Fort, Gwalior. The Society is governed by the constitution, which contains the Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association.

There is always one Parents’ Representative on the Board of Governors. The Board of Governors are responsible for major policy decisions, custodianship of all the properties and financial health of the institution.

Teaching-learning Experience

Teaching-learning experience significantly expands the scope of conventional pedagogical strategy by both including and giving high priority to the student's experience. Scindia provides a personalized, research-oriented education for the boys, designed both to promote their personal development and to allow development of the skills needed for a rewarding career.

o We have 14 full-fledged playing fields, spread across an over 100 acre campus, where we provide a matrix of intra and inter-school sports activities.
o Like the cells make the fundamental structure of a living body, the House system of Scindia forms the DNA. ‘House’ in Scindia is not just a building but an entity with a soul of its own. We have eight Senior and four Junior Houses.

o The Scindia School is a leading name in the ICT enabled schools of the country. We boast of a contemporary data center with almost 300 desktops, with the latest Microsoft solutions like Windows 10 Pro, MS- Office 2016 and Adobe CS. Our Academic Block is equipped with smart classrooms and the campus is connected with Wi-Fi.

o The School dining-hall is a welcoming place which effortlessly hosts all the students in a single turn. Outside the Dining Hall, the school Cafeteria facing the Oval field, is a favorite hangout on Sundays. The schoolboys feast on a variety of culinary choices, in a setting of animated discussions and fun.

o We also have a well-equipped Health Center, The Golden Jubilee Hospital which has a main patient hall with 16 beds. The medical staff is available 24/7 to provide support.

o The students can indent school uniform and accessories from the Clothing Store. Stitching of torn clothes, darning and mending of button holes is also handled here.

o The students can procure stationery items and other articles of daily use from the Tuck Shop.

o The FG Pearce library has a rich and eclectic collection of over 10,000 books with a variety of newspapers and magazines. We are all set to move towards digitalization.

School Management

The internal School Management Team consists of the Principal as the Head of the institution. Under his leadership is the Bursar with special responsibility for administrative affairs such as Finance, Campus Maintenance and Infrastructure projects.

This team is supported by the four Deans- Dean of Academics, Dean of Activities, Dean of Discipline and Student Welfare and Dean of Information and Communication Technology- as the next level of management.
